Making of a strong and beautiful character

We value people around us, or feel the importance of the things when we have lost them. It can be difficult to go through hard times in our lives, especially during the times of hardship and sometimes heartache that we grow closer to the small world that was always there, but we always pass it as invisible like something non existing.

Pain is your friend; it is your ally.

Pain reminds you to finish the job and get the hell home.

Pain tells you when you have been seriously wounded.

And you know what the best thing about pain is? It tells you you’re not dead yet!

We grow the most as human beings during our roughest times. So why do we judge them as bad – when they bring such good? The challenging pieces of our lives just might be when we are most alive. And they always bring tiny miracles. If you are awake to them.

Strong and beautiful souls, here is a story for you – The Tea Cup Story.

 The Tea Cup Story

“A young couple was shopping for antiques one day in an exclusive store and took notice to one of the most beautiful tea cups they had ever seen sitting on a shelf. They knew immediately that they had to buy it. As they stood there admiring it, then they were shocked to hear it begin to speak.

The Tea Cup

You know what? I didn’t always look like this, said the beautiful teacup. There was a time when nobody wanted me. There was a time when I wasn’t attractive at all. You see I was just an old lump of clay. But one day this potter came along and he began to pat me, form me and mold me. I said to the potter, “What are trying to do? That hurts! I’m uncomfortable! Leave me alone!” But the potter smiled and said, “Not yet.”

He then put me on the potter’s wheel, said the tea cup. And he spun me around and around and I began to get dizzy. I didn’t like it, but eventually, I took on a different shape. He formed me into this tea cup. I thought he was through with me, but all of a sudden he put me into a furnace. It was so hot in there, I could not stand it. I thought I was going to die! And when he came to check on me, I could see him through the glass in the furnace and he had a sparkle in his eye. I screamed out to him, “Hey let me out of here!” He just smiled and said, “Not yet.”

Finally after a long time, he took me out and put me on the shelf, said the tea cup. I thought, thank God it is finally over. Now I can get back to being my normal self. But then the potter came back over and began to paint me with this sticky paint. I didn’t like it. It smelled terrible! I thought I was going to choke. And I told him, “Leave me alone!” But again, he just said, “Not yet.”

Then he put me into a second oven that was twice as hot as the first. And I thought for sure it was all over. This time I thought it was going to be the end of me. When he came to check on me, I said, “Listen, I am serious. I can’t take this anymore!” But once again he just smiled and said, “Not yet.”

Finally he took me out and after a couple of days I cooled off. He came by and handed me a mirror. And when I looked into that mirror, I could not believe how beautiful I was. I could not believe how much I have changed. I did not look like anything like that the hard lump of clay that I started out to be. Now I am this beautiful tea cup and everybody wants me. But always remember there was a time, when nobody wanted me. But now, all because of the potter I am valuable. He made something special out of my life.

Everything that has come to you is for good, make something constructive out of it. Rough conditions can bring precious gifts. Life can be hard. We all have our good seasons as well as our difficult ones. But hard times bring many blessings. Like:

• Strength of character

• Self-knowledge,

• Courage

• Greater understanding and deeper compassion

As a very dear friend of mine, Sky  once said to me –

Silly is to be irritated and crib for the situation. Remarkable is to nurture whatever you have got. Prosper your universe. Be amazing, Be loving, Be grateful.”

Knocked down by pain and adversity ?

I have discovered that pain and adversity are powerful vehicles to promote personal growth. Nothing helps you learn, grow and evolve more quickly. Nothing offers you as big an opportunity to reclaim more of your authentic power as a person. Our human eyes view it as a negative experience. This is pure judgment and behind this false belief is pure fear.

You see, suffering occurs when something happens that we did not want. It occurs when life gives us something unexpected, some new condition. And the appearance of a new condition in our lives, whether this means an illness or the loss of a loved one or a financial setback, means we must change and leave the old, the shores we once clung to. We are asked to let go of what we expected and, for a human being, letting go can be frightening.

We are afraid to leave the safe harbor of the familiar and the known. We resist traveling to the unknown places our lives sometimes lead us towards. The very thought of doing so scares us. Behind all resistance to the new is fear.

Adversity ?

But there is nothing to fear. This universe of ours is a far friendlier place than we realize. A boat that never ventures beyond its moorings will never be damaged, but that’s not what boats are made for. Similarly, a human being who never dares to walk out into the unknown spaces of his or her life will never get hurt—but that is not what human beings were designed for. We were made to experience the growth that comes from visiting foreign places as travelers through life.

Our wiser eyes know this truth and see change and suffering for what it really is: a caring physician that comes to heal the sick part of our selves. Suffering serves to deepen us. Suffering comes to help us and causes us to know who we truly are. Suffering cracks us open, forcing us to let go and surrender all that we have known and clung to, like a little child on her first day of school, afraid to let go of her mother’s hand and walk alone into a classroom full of new friends where she will learn so many new and beautiful things. The unknown is where “the new” exists and the new is the only place in the world where you will find possibility. And every human being is hardwired to run towards possibility and potential in their lives.

We were all designed to be great. So how can you say suffering is bad when it is the very thing that makes you better?

Yes, the human side of us feels the pain as we endure it. That’s natural. But this pain will eventually subside and a richer, stronger, wiser you will emerge.

“Fear not the unknown, for it is where your greatness resides”.

Who you are ?

There is only one reason to do anything- as a statement to the universe of Who You Are.

Used this way, life becomes self creative.

You use life to create yourself as Who You Are, and Who You’ve always Wanted to Be.

There is only one reason to un-do anything – because it is no longer a statement of Whom You Wanted to be.

It does not represent you.

(That is, it does not re-present you …)

If you wish to be accurately re-presented, you must work to change anything in your life which does not fit into eternity.

change to represent
